Pinoy entrepreneur designs all-in-one life vest and survival kit
After Typhoon Ondoy struck in 2009, Filipino entrepreneur Danvic Briones decided to design a wearable survival kit and life vest called Rescue 72. Described as the “ultimate must-have when it comes to disaster preparedness,” the buoyant water-proof vest is adorned with pockets that could be filled with 30 to 50 pounds of personal belongings.
According to Briones, the vest’s weight is centered, making it seem lighter. The pockets could also be removed depending on the wearer. A kid’s version with less tools and compartments is also available. “‘Pag hindi ka ganoon ka-handa, mabilis mag-panic… ‘Pag ready ka, may presence of mind, mas OK ang percentage ng survival, mas mataas (If you’re not prepared, you panic easily.
